There were drones, campers and motorbikes worth at least 200,000 euros at Petrohan, bTV reported.

What equipment did the so-called rangers, found dead at Petrohan and Okolchitsa, have? Among them are all-terrain vehicles, campers, drones, snowmobiles. What are the specifics of the equipment used and how much does it cost?

The off-road camper in which the bodies of Ivaylo Kalushev, 22-year-old Nikolay Zlatkov and a 15-year-old boy were found at Okolchitsa Peak was purchased in the fall of 2025.

Dimitar Marinov owns a camper rental company and has been renting out the same model for several years.

"This camper in particular is a 4x4 system, with an automatic gearbox, there are no fast and slow gears, everything is automatic with it. It goes to places where a normal jeep can go, it is passable in winter conditions, on sand, on stones, there is no problem with it regarding passability. I hear that it has been to such a place and people wonder if it can get there – yes, this camper can reach...", he commented.

According to him, the price of such a camper depends a lot on the additional equipment.

"A camper like this starts at around 110 thousand euros and up", commented Dimitar Marinov.

Kalushev's association also had a satellite internet connection via "Starlink". The Ministry of the Interior announced at a briefing a few days ago that it was through Elon Musk's technology that they were able to find out the location of the camper.

And the "Starlink" satellites help in the investigation of many operations around the world, they even play a key role in military conditions. Bulgarian Ivan Kalchev is a volunteer in Ukraine and has been maintaining Kiev's "Starlink" satellites for a year. That's why he knows this type of technology well.

"During this time, I am not aware of a single case - that it has been detected hardware-wise, that is, through radio waves, that "Starlink" has been detected by one side or the other. This is the equivalent of monitoring phones through cells - without knowing what a specific mobile subscriber is talking about, whether he uses a voice, whether he uses a message, when connecting to the cell, he leaves traffic data", commented Ivan Kalchev.

Kalushev's association also had high-tech drones. Stoyan Yordanov is a long-time expert in drone control. He recognizes the aircraft of the non-governmental organization from "Petrohan" according to the description of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"The drone they used is a high-end industrial drone that can be used for many things. It is equipped with a thermal camera, which can be used for thermographic images, for searching for people in distress, people trapped under an avalanche. It also has a fairly good quality zoom camera and accordingly can be viewed from 100-200 m, to get closer, to see a car number, to see something else in much more detail", says Stoyan Yordanov, a drone expert.

The range of this type of drone reaches about 8 km, and the flight time is about 40 minutes in good weather conditions. It can be raised to a height of about 1 km.

"The price of the thermal version is about 10,000 euros. There is also a geodesy and mapping camera with a pretty good camera, a normal color camera, with which very good recordings can be made such as 2D, 3D models of buildings, roads, "commented Stoyan Yordanov.

The professional equipment and techniques were owned by the group in connection with the environmental protection activities they carried out. In these activities, they also collaborated with the European Ranger Federation. They confirmed to bTV that they have known the leaders of the association since 2022.

"We have been cooperating with the National Agency for the Control of Protected Areas (NACPTA) since 2022. We met with them in connection with various proposals for training and networking at ERF, most recently in October 2025 at the European Ranger Congress in Romania. Their activities were related to the promotion of the ranger profession in Romania; raising public awareness of nature and the need for its conservation, for example through environmental education and programs for young rangers; preventing environmental crimes such as poaching and illegal logging. Our impression was that they take their goal of nature conservation and the development of the ranger profession in their country very seriously and are committed to pursuing it. They were an active part of our international exchange on this topic through their participation in our programs," commented the European Ranger Federation – European Rangers Federation (ERF).

The videos released by the Ministry of Interior from the “Petrohan“ hut also show snowmobiles, as well as off-road vehicles worth tens of thousands of euros.

Although the media does not have data on the exact characteristics of some of the vehicles or it is still unclear what equipment Kalushev's association worked with - some donors have publicly given an idea of the scale of the organization. For example, the mayor of the capital admitted that he donated 70-80 thousand euros for electric motorcycles.

Thus, from the opinions of experts, publicly known statements and market research, a rough estimate shows that “Petrohan” had drones, campers and motorcycles worth at least 200 thousand euros or nearly half a million leva. And perhaps even much more.
