Zarkov: The BSP MPs whose votes overrode the veto have no place with us anymore

Zarkov emphasized that with this action of theirs they not only did not comply with the decision of the party's Executive Bureau, but also contributed to the violation of the Constitution, which guarantees universal and equal suffrage for Bulgarian citizens

The veto of President Iliana Yotova was blamed on eight MPs from the BSP-United Left. These are three from the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet, Dragomir Stoynev, Kiril Dobrev, Maya Dimitrova, Deyan Dechev and Petar Kanev. This was stated to the media on the sidelines of the parliament by the leader of the BSP, Krum Zarkov, after the head of state's veto on the changes to the Electoral Code was overcome.

Zarkov emphasized that with this action, they not only did not comply with the decision of the party's Executive Bureau, but also contributed to the violation of the Constitution, which guarantees universal and equal suffrage for Bulgarian citizens.

Their behavior is absolutely unacceptable and they will no longer be BSP deputies in the next parliament. I thank the other BSP deputies who stood up for the principles that are at the foundation of our party. With them, we will have to overcome the damage that has already been done to us and which will obviously be done to us until the last day of this National Assembly, Zarkov added.

In conclusion, he pointed out that “we are moving forward on a different path“.
