Rosen Stoyanov: We expect a turbulent campaign and difficult coalitions after the vote

The main task of the cabinet remains the organization of the elections and ensuring budget stability

„The main task of the cabinet remains the organization of the elections and ensuring budget stability. Everything else will be interpreted as an attempt at influence.“

This was stated in the studio of „Good Morning, Europe“ on "Euronews" by political scientist Rosen Stoyanov. He commented on the additional documents requested by Vice President Iliana Yotova for the replacement of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a „cautious and justified move“, aimed at protecting institutional authority.

According to him, the prosecutor's office's investigation of an acting interior minister is more of a precedent, but within its powers. According to Stoyanov, the mass replacement of regional governors is a traditional political move, which, however, carries the risk of accusations of pre-election pressure.

The political scientist predicts a sharp campaign and difficult coalition negotiations after the vote. “There will be no independent majority. A formula will be sought between the top two or three political forces“, he believes, not ruling out surprising agreements.

Regarding possible reshuffles in the Supreme Judicial Council, Stoyanov noted that “the problem is not in the personalities, but in the system“. He also commented on the internal tensions in the BSP around Yotova's veto, defining them as a sign of weakened party discipline. “After the elections, we will see whether these rifts were a tactical move or the beginning of a deeper transformation“, the expert concluded.
