The national leadership of “Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria“ is following with concern the development of the situation in the Middle East after the military strikes by the United States and Israel on targets related to the despotic regime in Iran.

The formation issued a position regarding the strikes by the United States and Israel on targets of the regime in Iran, NOVA reported.

"The regime in Tehran is responsible for systematic violations of a number of international treaties, as well as for human rights violations, including through murders and repressions against its own population. The bloody suppression of the mass demonstrations against the regime in December 2025 – January 2026 was just the latest episode of violence against peaceful citizens fighting for their freedom and dignity. Over the past two decades, the regime in Iran has become a risk to the entire Middle East region, having repeatedly rejected the opportunity to voluntarily abandon its ballistic and nuclear programs.

It remains to be seen whether the people of Iran will take to the streets of Iranian cities and, with their determination, lead to the final collapse of this obscurantist regime. We will witness whether the Iranian people have the strength to take power from the tyrants of the Revolutionary Guard, or they will once again launch another bloodthirsty dictator.
The DSB expresses solidarity with the citizens of Iran and their struggle for democracy, human rights and a free future," the position states.

The DSB believes that in this complex geopolitical situation Bulgaria must act decisively as a responsible member of NATO and the EU, by strengthening operational cooperation with its allies in terms of security through the exchange of intelligence data and active participation in the planning of joint actions within the framework of the two strategic alliances, the document also says.
