The airline Fly Dubai has surprisingly launched a flight from Dubai to Sofia tonight. This was established by a check by TravelNews on the website of the international airport in the emirate. The plane took off at 20:53 local time, i.e. 18.53 Bulgarian time. The airline commented to TravelNews that this is not a regular flight and it is not clear who paid for it and who is carrying it. Its schedule was also published on information at the “Vasil Levski” Airport in Sofia, and it is expected to land at 1.34 at Terminal 2 tonight. So far, Fly Dubai has not announced that it has resumed its regular flights to Sofia.
The flight is number FZ1719, which is operated by a Boeing 737 Max 8 with 166 seats.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government have not mentioned such a flight in their statements in recent days. TravelNews sent a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about what this flight is, is it an evacuation flight, who is carrying it and who paid for it.
Two more planes from the United Arab Emirates are expected to arrive overnight. One is the government one, which is currently operating a flight with 90 passengers on board from Abu Dhabi. It is scheduled to land at 1:10 a.m. The other is from Dubai – of the Bulgarian airline Gullivair, which is to carry 326 Bulgarians and is expected to land at 3.30 am at Terminal 2.
Tomorrow morning, a flight from Salalah, Oman, to Sofia by the national carrier “Bulgaria Air” is expected to be operated. 148 Bulgarians who are on a program with the tour operator “Emerald Travel” should return to our country.
Today, the first flight of “Bulgaria Air” with Bulgarian citizens from Dubai to Varna Airport, which was with tourists from the tour operator “Abax”, successfully arrived.
