We talked, we requested information. You know that there is specific information that I cannot say, but the caretaker government is not honest with Bulgarian citizens. It was not honest with the parliament either. This was told to journalists by the chairman of the parliamentary group of “There is such a people“ Toshko Yordanov after the meeting of the Security Council of the Council of Ministers.
Yordanov added that during the meeting they tried to “shuffle“. He addressed the journalists, saying “Unlike you, we can ask them questions face to face and press them, and that's what we did.“
The MP said that in his opinion, many Bulgarian citizens are asking questions because of the available public information about American planes at the Sofia airport, as well as because of the military actions and tensions related to Iran.
According to Yordanov, this is a conflict that was not provoked by Bulgaria and is not a NATO operation. He emphasized that in such a situation, the country's defense is primarily related to its membership in the Alliance.
“Our only defense is our membership in NATO“, Yordanov said, adding that Bulgaria's air defense was donated to Ukraine.
According to him, within a few days the caretaker government changed its wording of the situation – from assurances that there is no problem to the recognition of more serious risks.
The MP also expressed concern about the presence of planes at the Sofia airport, saying that this does not reassure him. Yordanov added that there are risks for Bulgaria related to the conflict in the Middle East and expressed hope that they will remain solely in the economic sphere.
