Garbage collection in six districts "Iskar", "Kremikovtsi", Pancharevo (zone 2) and "Vrabnitsa", "Novi Iskar", "Bankya" (zone 5) will be carried out at lower prices, the Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality in the "Environment" department Nikolay Nedelkov told the media, BTA reports. The contracts were initially signed at prices announced in the order, and immediately afterwards annexes were concluded for the performance of the activities at lower prices, he explained.

The representatives of the contractor company expressed their desire in official letters that they could reduce the price at which they would work, and accordingly the contracts were signed at 285 leva per ton for the collection and transportation of household waste and at a price of 200 leva per ton for the collection and transportation of bulky waste, Nedelkov pointed out.

These are prices that are much different from the speculations we have heard in recent months that contracts will be signed at 325 leva, at 350 leva, he commented. Mayor Terziev and the Sofia Municipality managed to fight for a price reduction, the deputy mayor added.

This solves the problem in “Iskar“, “Kremikovtsi“, “Pancharevo“, “Vrabnitsa“, “Novi Iskar“ and “Bankya“. In the remaining zones, we will comply with the decision of the Administrative Court, he pointed out.

For some areas we need to review the orders, for others - we have the opportunity to launch new competitions and consider other options, which we will discuss with the mayor of Sofia, said Nedelkov.

The signing of the contracts guarantees long-term stability of waste collection and waste disposal until 2031, the press center of the Sofia Municipality said earlier today. They specify that the service will be performed under significantly stricter control and at prices that protect the public interest - 145.72 euros (approximately 285 leva) per ton for household waste and 102.26 euros (about 200 leva) per ton for bulky waste.
