The leader of the MECH party Radostin Vassilev described as "incredible legends" the allegations that his trip to Dubai was related to a meeting with Delyan Peevski. In a conversation with Nikolay Kolev on "Eurocom" TV, he specified that his visit was for personal reasons and official commitments in his capacity as a lawyer, but he had to extend his stay due to canceled flights. Vassilev was categorical that he had no common ground with the chairman of the MRF, recalling his old clashes with him, including the warning that everything would soon end for the governance model.
The politician confirmed that he had returned to Bulgaria on an evacuation flight organized by the state, after submitting an application through the channel to the crisis center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to him, over 300 people were on board. He commented on the tension surrounding the organization and called on institutions not to divide citizens into “politicians“ and “organized tourists“, referring to the signals about abandoned groups of tour operators in the Emirates.
In the studio, Vassilev harshly criticized President Rumen Radev, whom he accused of legitimizing the influence of GERB through public appearances with the party's mayors in Stara Zagora and Burgas. According to the leader of the MECH, the head of state is losing trust because of his advisors Nikolay Koprinkov and Plamen Uzunov. This position marks a change in his rhetoric, after he previously saw Radev as a potential partner. Now Vassilev is categorical that his party will not be involved in the president's project.
Regarding the domestic political situation, Vassilev described the caretaker cabinet as dependent on Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski. He gave an example of the interference of the GERB leader in the work of the Minister of Defense and personnel policy in the Water and Sewerage sector. According to him, the battle between the main political players is often illusory, and the ultimate goal is to preserve economic influence.
Internationally, the leader of the MECH supported the position of neutrality towards the conflict in the Middle East and insisted on reciprocity in relations with the US. He proposed that the use of military bases in our country be linked to the abolition of visas for Bulgarian citizens and the provision of military equipment. Vassilev also predicted a drastic increase in the price of electricity next year, criticizing the EWRC and the Ministry of Energy for the lack of clear answers to the parliament.
