Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev came out with a harsh stance regarding the coordinated media attack against him related to his donation to "Petrohan". He defined what is happening as an attempt to "murder critical thinking" and pointed out that behind the screen of fabricated scandals, real damage to the state in the amount of hundreds of millions of euros is hidden.
„What is happening around "Petrohan" is a textbook example of how media hysteria is produced in order to hide the real issues," the mayor said.
According to him, words like “pedophilia“, “sects“ and “paramilitary formations“ are used as emotional buttons to intoxicate society. “Media spokespeople and anonymous channels are generously fed, who develop the same narratives every day. And this is no coincidence. They are all harnessed to participate in a premeditated murder – the murder of the critical thinking of the Bulgarian“, Terziev is categorical.
Vasil Terziev emphasized that after being questioned by the prosecutor's office, he complied with the investigators' explicit request not to comment on the topic publicly. “Obviously, however, this rule does not apply to other people.”
The mayor clarified the donation itself, indicating that the information is fully accessible to the authorities:
The donations were made via bank road.
All taxes have been paid.
The funds were used to purchase equipment that is available to Petrohan.
Terziev also asked a direct question to his political opponents: “Why did GERB, BSP and “Vazrazhdane“ refuse to fully declassify the documents on the case? Who has something to hide? I have nothing to hide.“
The mayor's position did not escape the attacks from ITN. He described Toshko Yordanov's accusations as an attempt to divert attention, made by people who have become “a murre of the Borisov-Peevski model“.
“At the same time, his party is clinically dead, blocking legal changes on which 437 million euros for Bulgaria under the Recovery Plan depend“, reminded Terziev, drawing a parallel between his personal 250,000 leva donated to a cause and the billions of public resources that are leaking or being lost.
Where are the real answers?
Vasil Terziev called for the focus of public attention to return to the real scandals that are "on the chopping block":
The "Dwarves" and "Notaries" in the prosecutor's office;
The emptied bags of money from the "Hemus" highway;
The "Barcelonagate" case and the 70 files against Borisov;
The failed action against Nexo, for which the state risks billions in arbitration fees claims.
„For my 250 thousand leva of personal money donated to a cause, I was crucified. And for billions of euros of embezzled public funds – silence. That is exactly why this noise is being created. But people are not stupid“, concluded Vasil Terziev.
