Nikolay Denkov: They are looking for any opportunities to cause image damage to the PP-DB because of the Petrokhan case

"Fuel prices are rising due to the start of the Israeli and US strikes against Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The government must react to what comes from outside. There are several types of possible measures. What was discussed by the government are the most correct measures that could be proposed. They are related to two types of groups that should receive support - one group is people with lower incomes, and the second is the sector that could have the strongest impact on inflation - logistics companies. We will see if these will be the final measures, because negotiations with the EC are coming up.

This was commented by former Prime Minister and Deputy Chairman of Prodlužavam svetla svijeta Nikolay Denkov in the program “Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov“ on NOVA NEWS.

Denkov also stated that anyone who wants the war to end as quickly as possible should support the sanctions against Russia. "There is a decision to release a very large volume of oil from the reserves of various countries. The point is to control the situation at the moment and then I assume that the sanctions against Russia will be returned quickly," he pointed out.

Regarding the proposal adopted by the deputies to oblige the caretaker cabinet to submit the ratification for Donald Trump's Peace Council, Denkov stated that the National Assembly did something that was not within its powers. "Such a decision of the National Assembly contradicts the Constitution and it is no coincidence that the acting Prime Minister immediately said that he would submit an inquiry to the Constitutional Court, because with this decision the parliament enters into the powers of the government. The second question that remains is that there are some questions regarding the content of the document itself and that is why most European countries sent observers. This is the right decision for Bulgaria", Denkov also said.

He also commented on the mass replacements of regional directors of the Ministry of Interior in the country. "It was precisely these directors of the Ministry of Interior who conducted the most unfair elections, as was established by the inspection by the Constitutional Court. Never before has it happened that a new parliamentary force entered the country months after the elections, as happened in the 51st National Assembly. These regional directors of the Ministry of Interior lost trust. There were cases in which it was clear that the Ministry of Interior was not working in the interests of the state, but was actually carrying out some orders. I don't see anything more normal than looking for other people in whom the government can have more trust," said Denkov.

Regarding the "Petrohan - Okolchitsa" case, Denkov commented that a massive campaign is underway that seeks every opportunity to cause image damage to the PP-DB with completely fabricated connections in order to divert attention from the truly important issues. "The truly important issues are why DANS and the prosecutor's office slept through what was happening in 2025 under the regular government of Rosen Zhelyazkov and why the prosecutor's office stopped the investigation at the end of 2025, and one month later we have six people killed," he said.
