Passenger transport in our country is currently operating at a loss, industry representatives claim. Ticket prices have not been touched for years.

Due to the large increase in fuel prices, the companies will ask the state to create a mechanism for them to be compensated.

For now, no increase in tickets for intercity lines or suspension of service is expected. Fuel costs up to 1.50 euros per liter, and experts predict an increase of up to 30%. In order for consumers not to pay more, passenger transport will be demanded compensation from the state. The last time such a thing happened was at the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

The International Transport Union also warned of the risk of bankruptcies in the transport sector. They urged the state to adopt urgent national mechanisms to compensate for the extraordinary increase in fuel costs.
