Peevski: We will oblige EWRC to pay for the inspection of electricity meters

If a consumer requests an inspection of their electricity meter, they must pay for it! This is extremely unfair, because the risk of having to pay over 60 euros out of pocket deters many people from requesting an inspection of their meters

"The scandalously high electricity bills since the beginning of the year have brought people to the streets, but their protests are not supported by the institutions.

Moreover, if a consumer requests an inspection of their electricity meter, they must pay for it! This is extremely unfair, because the risk of having to pay over 60 euros out of pocket deters many people from requesting an inspection of their meters," says Delyan Peevski, leader of the DPS and the PG of the DPS-NEW START.

"Therefore, the PG of the DPS-NEW START is introducing a change that will oblige the KEVR to pay for these inspections. This will allow over 100,000 electricity meters to be checked at the request of citizens.

In addition, the changes also provide for an audit of the billing systems of electricity and gas distribution companies in order to ensure transparency and clarity in the formation of bills.

For us, the commitment and responsibility of the state to protect the interests of the people in the first place is irrevocable, regardless of any other political or other considerations that are clearly subject to the parties in the election campaign, Peevski added.
