Huge water bills, some of which reach 840 euros - this is what people from a residential block in the capital's "Mladost 1" district are reporting.
From "Sofiiska Voda" claim that hidden consumption is possible. They also explain that the shaft in which the main water meter is located has an asphalt cover and they do not have access to it. People from the residential block say, however, that the shaft cover was opened and the water meter was always accessible. They also warn that there is an overlap of periods in one of the latest detections.
“The last invoice we received in February is 513 euros. The period is from the end of April last year. We were charged 7,647 cubic meters of water. This is distributed among all subscribers, and according to our water meters we used 3,600 cubic meters of water. The difference is huge”, says one of the victims. “They give us information that this was recorded on the common water meter, which means that someone must have checked it and seen that it was exactly this amount”, she adds.
“If we want an additional check, a representative of the condominium must pay a fee and then they will take action. Our question is, is it necessary to pay a fee? The regulation stipulates that in case of over 20% higher consumption, the condominium must first be notified. Such a notification, however, has not been made by “Sofiiska voda””, the victims are alarmed.
”There is no hidden consumption - our basements are absolutely dry and we have not filled three Olympic-sized swimming pools, this is absurd”, states another resident of the residential block in the capital's district.
The company also claims that they have found premises without water meters. According to the residents of the block, however, there are no such premises. They also claim that “Sofiiska voda” does not provide them with information about how many subscribers are connected to the common water meter, even though one was requested.
”The interesting thing is different if we assume that we have a leak. This water did not enter the sewer, but we are still being charged for sewer and treatment plant fees,” says another victim of the high water bill.
The people from the apartment building are adamant that they will demand an additional inspection because of the shocking water bills they received.
