I take seriously the attempts to defame my name. This is how the former acting Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Demerdzhiev commented on the accusations of the MP from the PG of "DPS-New Beginning" Kalin Stoyanov, that there are attempts at repression through the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kardzhali.
"The scheme is clear - certain “media”, I deliberately put them in quotes, because they have long since become party organs, are launching a provocation. From there, the vigilant citizen Kalin Stoyanov "takes notice" and starts to file a report against me. I neither can nor want to order arrests. I have neither the authority nor the desire to do so. Something very important - unlike the vigilant citizen Kalin Stoyanov, I have not used the Ministry of Interior as a truncheon. For me, law and justice are above all else," Demerdzhiev emphasized in a post on his personal Facebook profile.
The former minister added that if Stoyanov had indeed filed a report against him, he would defend his name and in turn file a report for harassment.
