Alexander Sano on high electricity bills: The problem is getting worse

The electricity distribution company provides him with a detailed analysis, but the conclusion does not satisfy him

The topic of high electricity bills continues to cause public discontent, and one of the most recognizable voices of the protests has become actor Alexander Sano. He spoke about his personal case and the problems that many consumers face. Sano admits that his commitment to the cause is unexpected and difficult: “This is a disgusting thing that takes away my personal time, my family time and my work.“

According to him, he is actively involved in organizing the protests: “I take time to make videos and communicate with student organizations with whom we organized the first protest. We are also preparing a second one.“ The reason for his connection is the sharp increase in his electricity bills: “I received a bill for January that was twice as high – 357 euros. Last year for the same month it was 357 leva.“

However, the problem deepens: “For February my bill became even higher – over 700 leva. I have never had such a high bill.“ He then files complaints with various institutions: “I filed complaints with the Energy Regulatory Commission, the Consumer Protection Commission and the Ombudsman.“

The electricity distribution company provides him with a detailed analysis, but the conclusion does not satisfy him: “The explanation is that I consume a lot of electricity – “Look, you consume this electricity.“ This is impossible.“ Sano does his own inspection of his installation: “I called the company that built the heating system. They checked everything – there are no deviations, nothing is defective.“ Particularly worrying is a case in which he is informed of an extremely high instantaneous consumption: “They told me that my home is currently consuming 10 kilowatts. And I was alone, nothing was working except the refrigerator.“

He describes the situation in detail: “The temperature in the rooms was higher than the set one, which means that the heating is not working. The system display said 0.0 – that is, there is no consumption.“ Despite this, the recorded consumption remains high: “It means that only the refrigerator was working at that moment, and they are recording 10 kilowatts. How is this possible?“ The on-site inspection also does not give a clear answer: “I turn off the central fuse – there is no electricity, which is logical. But the inspection was not convincing enough and that is why I signed the protocol with a dissenting opinion.“

The actor insists on an independent examination: “I want an absolutely independent inspection, because having the person you are complaining about inspect you is absurd.“ Sano says that he is not the only one with a similar problem: “People tell me the same thing – there are even cases in which money has been returned after complaints and the next bill comes with a minus.“ He also tells of other striking cases: “There is a person whose electricity meter continues to spin, even when the fuses are turned off.“

According to him, the problem is serious and requires immediate action: “Something is definitely wrong. Someone is doing something dishonest to a part of the population. “ Discontent among the people is growing: “There will be another protest – there is no way there won't be. People are extremely nervous.“ In conclusion, Sano is categorical that the situation must be clarified: “We need to understand what is happening and stop this.“

The topic of high electricity bills remains open, and public tension shows that expectations for transparency and justice are higher than ever.
