We must separate propaganda from information about talks that are not so public. There is probably a risk for the person or people who are negotiating on the Iranian side. This is among the reasons that lead to this mixed information. This was stated by former Minister of Defense Angel Naydenov in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".

Is there hope for peace

"The situation remains unclear, even contradictory and difficult to predict. Hope is given by information about already held or upcoming talks between US and Iranian envoys in Pakistan. Mediation was initially carried out by Turkey and Egypt. Whether an agreement will be reached by agreement of both sides and whether this brings us closer to the end of the war in the Middle East - it is not certain, but the path to negotiations is being opened, which is a good thing", added Naydenov on the air of Bulgaria ON AIR.

According to him, information about the conditions of the two sides is scarce.

Angel Naydenov believes that at this point there are quite diverse conditions - mutually exclusive.

"On the American side, the conditions that led to the failure of the negotiations on February 28, hours before the military strikes by the US and Israel were to begin, are clear. Iran is setting the conditions - to receive guarantees that military strikes against the country will not be launched in the future, compensation for the damages inflicted, lifting of sanctions and of course control over the Strait of Hormuz. The condition has also been set for Iran to continue producing ballistic missiles for defensive purposes," the guest emphasized.

Iran's military power

According to him, what is Iran's military power is a question that needs to be answered.

"There has been a drastic reduction in the number of ballistic missiles that Iran launches, which speaks of defeat. More than 100 air defense systems and about 120 air target detection systems have been defeated, which guarantees air superiority for the US and Israel in Iran's airspace," the former minister also commented.

"No matter how weakened Iran is militarily, it has demonstrated the ability not only to survive as a state and as a regime, but also to strike at the territory of neighboring countries. There are no signs of the regime's collapse, there is no breakdown between the main figures in the Iranian leadership. The choice of the new ayatollah is dominated by the Revolutionary Guard," Naydenov is categorical.

Is neighboring Romania a target?

The former defense minister said that he does not believe that Romania's bases could be a target for Iran.

"Iran's threats were to take political and legal action, a military strike is excluded. On the territory of Romania there are both radars from the ground components of the US and NATO anti-ballistic missile system, as well as interceptor missiles. We are talking about a distance of more than 2,200 kilometers and must pass through the territory of several countries, if we are talking about a missile threat, including through the solid barrier, the barrier of Turkey and Greece, and ships in the Mediterranean Sea," Angel Naydenov also said.
