Aid for the neediest due to high fuel prices comes into effect

The National Revenue Agency has already published the retail prices of both gasoline and diesel on its website

Aid for the neediest due to high fuel prices comes into effect. This was announced at a briefing by the Minister of Finance Georgi Klisurski.

The measure is being activated in support of Bulgarian citizens, he explained.

Yesterday, March 24, was the third consecutive day in which the retail price of diesel was 1.60 euros. Accordingly, from today, the measure, which supports the most needy individuals and amounts to 20 euros per month, is active.

The National Revenue Agency has already published the retail prices of both gasoline and diesel on its website, Klisurski explained.

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy Hasan Ademov explained that two categories of persons will be entitled to receive this compensation.

The first category is people who have bank accounts with the "Social Assistance" Agency and receive funds from it. They do not need to submit applications - they will automatically receive these 20 euros in their accounts, Ademov said.

The other category is people who do not have payments from the "Social Assistance" Agency. They must submit applications to the same agency. This application will be submitted once. It will not be necessary to submit every month if the measure is activated again next month.

Those people who have an income that is at the poverty line, own a personal car and must have paid the mandatory "Civil Liability" insurance are entitled to the assistance.

The government will soon announce a package of measures to support business, Klisurski also said. The important thing is that these measures are effective, targeted and, with regard to business, to nip inflation in the bud.

Klisurski also said that fuel prices are stabilizing. Gasoline for the last 4 days has been 1.43 euros.

The National Revenue Agency is also carrying out inspections, over 800 gas stations have been inspected, he also said. Any price increase is the result of objective market circumstances, not speculative behavior.
