In the capital's Ovcha Kupel neighborhood, cases of slashed tires on cars parked in front of apartment buildings have once again been registered. On the air of Hello, Bulgaria on Nova TV, residents of the neighborhood spoke about the escalating tension over parking.

One of the victims, Johnny, said that the vandalism began with the lifting and bending of windshield wipers, after which the tire on his jeep was "stabbed with a knife all over the side". According to him, changing the tire and the labor cost him about 80 euros. He said he had had arguments with neighbors who claimed that the parking spaces in front of the entrance were theirs “by law”, even though the land was municipal.

Another resident of the neighborhood confirmed that tires were “slashed” regularly and expressed concern that the situation was escalating. “We shouldn't get to such moments, we see on TV that in many places cars were even set on fire”, he said.

Johnny believes that the encroachments will not stop, as certain people have decided that the spaces are theirs. He expressed his readiness even to sleep in his car to catch the perpetrator. The 6th District is calling on citizens to file official reports for any such case.
