In connection with a received signal of an attack on a police officer in the area of the village of Lyulin, Pernik municipality, pre-trial proceedings have been initiated under the supervision of the Pernik District Prosecutor's Office with the first action in the investigation - an inspection of the scene, to clarify all facts and circumstances of the case.
At this stage, it has been established that in the late hours of 25.03.2026, a police officer in the Directorate General for Combating Organized Crime“ was at his father's house in a village in the municipality of Pernik when he noticed a car moving in the area, known to him in connection with his official search activities.
The car stopped in front of the house and several people wearing face masks, armed with rifles, got out of it and headed towards him and his father.
The police officer ordered them to stop, but the people did not obey and continued to attack them.
In response, the officer fired shots into the air with a legally owned weapon. Immediately afterwards, the masked individuals stopped their actions, got into the car and left the scene.
The car was found abandoned in the area of the cemetery park.
Given allegations of the involvement of 22-year-old Vasil Mihaylov (known as the prosecutor's son, wanted by law enforcement for over half a year - ed.) in the commission of the act, the Pernik District Prosecutor's Office has sent a proposal to Acting Chief Prosecutor Borislav Sarafov that the management and supervision of the case be assigned to another prosecutor's office, with a view to an objective, comprehensive and complete investigation, as well as to avoid suspicions of any interest or bias in collecting evidence.
