GERB continued its election campaign with the presentation of the party's list in Veliko Tarnovo and a meeting with supporters.
„The charlatan years 2021 and 2024 were zero years for the local government. GERB is the most experienced, they don't talk nonsense. Christian and family values are always respected and in a leading place and our leader Boyko Borisov proves this every day“, said Daniel Panov, mayor of the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, at the beginning of today's event.
He presented Borisov with an icon of Saint George on the occasion of the GERB leader's name day today. For his part, Boyko Borisov said that he celebrates Epiphany.
Leader Boyko Borisov commented: “I usually don't deal with other parties, but when they attack us or when they clearly listen carefully to what I say in order to take something out of context, it is worth responding to them, otherwise they can go unpunished. I hear that the parties would do a lot with artificial intelligence. My dears, in 2017 Donchev came with a professor from the University of Zurich and currently the INSAIT institute is one of the leading in the world, if not the best.”
”The “Coprinka Road” party promises Bulgarians what it will do in this area. We are in a leading position in the world – we have done this. The defense industry – we have brought the largest arms company in Europe, we are negotiating a third factory. But we have not held a referendum on the eurozone – in Obzor they held a referendum on secession from Nessebar, but Radev did not sign it, why?“, he asked.
According to him, everyone in the Council of Ministers under Zhelyazkov has done wonders for the PVE, which Plan is now an absolutely lost and failed plan.
„I brought down the government. If you give me back the stories, the conversations, the answers, we had set ourselves that this government would bring us into the eurozone, Schengen, restore the Plan and abolish the monitoring mechanism by January 1 this year – we did this job and resigned. No one has brought us down. There are protests in Serbia, Hungary, France. Power is given by the people, after there is tension – you resign, you go to elections. And we were in the opposition. We didn't like this company in the parliament. We have clear goals, which if the people support us, we will achieve“, Borisov is categorical.
“There is also speculation about my words in connection with the war in the Middle East. We have large sources of conventional gas. In “Khan Asparuh” in the Black Sea, BEH bought another 10%. Last but not least, in certain regions – I never said Dobrudja, because Radev and Kostadinov speculated, I was talking about the Red Sea region, the poorest region in Europe. The concession is held by “Shell” for about one trillion gas, and Bulgaria spends about three billion per year. I said that society must find a consensus, I said that neither I, nor Radev or Kostadinov are experts, to invite such experts, to demonstrate the technology publicly. It is no coincidence that the USA is in 1st place, Russia – 3rd in terms of gas production. It is no coincidence, however, that the pro-Russian parties of Koprinkov and others jumped in, because we will become independent“, Borisov also emphasized.
He also talked about GERB's actions years ago regarding shale gas: “Under great pressure from the pro-Russian parties, we imposed a moratorium then. Radev said yesterday that Borisov wants to extract shale gas in our granary - an absolute lie. But here are these populists who are playing with people's fears. Tell Sacheva to tell people that they are playing with their fears.“
“In 10 years, what will a head of state show in Varna? Nothing. What will Koprinka show? Nothing. What will Assen Vassilev show? Everything done there is by GERB. We must answer their lies, otherwise it will not be right“, Borisov is convinced.
“I heard that there is a letter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the Customs to remove the teams that monitor excise taxes. In one year with Prime Minister Zhelyazkov and Deputy Prime Minister Donchev, 14 billion leva more was collected in the budget from the fight against smuggling, tax fraud, cigarettes, alcohol and everything else. If they do this, smuggling will hit the ceiling again, especially of cigarettes, alcohol and meat during these holidays“, he warned.
The story and history with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev: “Many people went there to act important, but when the games were in Baku, the EU boycotted them. Jean-Claude Juncker, Angela Merkel were people who understood a word, and I told them that Azerbaijani gas is the only chance for diversification. I said I would go, Yuner shouted “I can't hear you, Boyko”. Aliyev told me on the spot that I would sleep in his palace, not in hotels. For Azerbaijan, Europe begins and ends with Bulgaria. He sent his daughter and his wife to watch “Sound and Light” in Tarnovo. As a gesture in Bulgaria, to this day we get gas 30% cheaper than it is on the stock exchange. I did this personally.“
„Traykov said that last year over half a billion has been earned by Balkan Stream. It is 100% Bulgarian, 100% yours, pure profit, a printing press for money. Which of the things we have done in 15 years should we be ashamed of? We have made exceptional agreements. Every day 600,000 euros go to the young Gen Z in Turkey. The rich Bulgarians feed the Turks“, Borisov also said.
„Borisov wants to destroy your granary!“ I invite him to listen to the experts from abroad, from the USA, from Russia, how they earn a billion a day from this gas. Bulgaria has huge reserves, why shouldn't we earn a billion a day? I didn't say that I would do it, let's have a round table with the experts. I don't know if Radev is participating somewhere with his name in this coalition. I am optimistic, bright holidays are coming“, Borisov explained again.
Finally, he said: “We need to tell people what we have done and what we can build on. We can say that the tax policy will be as we have announced.“
Before Borisov's speech, the leader of the list, Prof. Kostadin Angelov, commented: “For the first time, I am not worried about the outcome of these elections. We have done so much that it could not be put together with hyphens on two sheets of paper. We have done so much for the region and every city that it deserves to be supported. Everything that GERB does carries a deep meaning and gives a sign. There are five doctors on the list, which gives a clear sign that healthcare is our main priority.”
