Hasan Ademov: The interest in the 20 euro measure for the increased fuel price is indicative that it is working

The social system has often been used for a controlled vote, the acting Minister of Labor and Social Policy admitted

The most important thing is that the crisis does not transfer to the people and our goal is to reduce the pressure on their daily lives.

This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by the acting Minister of Labor and Social Policy Hasan Ademov, specifying:

"This can be achieved not only with a package of measures to be proposed, but it is important and expedient to propose a model of behavior in the different scenarios for the development of the crisis. It is obvious that this is an external crisis that, like a perfect storm, hit many governments, related to the increase in fuel prices, electricity prices and everything else that shapes the current crisis. The important thing is that the effects of the crisis do not hit the pockets of Bulgarian citizens as increased prices. Therefore, the government believes that the most important task is not to transfer this external shock as a risk for an internal problem. Because the biggest risk is not to transfer this crisis to prices for the end consumer.

He emphasized that the measures proposed by the "Gyurov" cabinet are consistent with the fact that they are working in conditions of an extended budget and "the pocket is not deep enough":

"The funds there come from the taxes of Bulgarian citizens. Therefore, the measures are targeted at those sectors that along the supply chain could affect the prices of the end consumer. On the other hand, these measures must be quick, be temporary and must overcome the feeling that the crisis is hitting the pockets of Bulgarian citizens. ... The measures must not lead to inflationary pressure. The government intends to comply with all rules related to public finances".

Transport, food, energy, vulnerable groups, these are the identified sectors in which the crisis has the most serious consequences, Minister Ademov pointed out.

"There are indicators for all measures so that they can be activated in stages, rather than being included all at once and activated at the same time. The government's concept includes the understanding that these measures should be upgraded depending on the development of the crisis resulting from the tension in the Middle East," emphasized the Minister of Social Affairs.

In connection with the 20 euro assistance due to the high prices of gasoline and diesel, Ademov specified that people who meet the criteria with declared bank accounts at the Social Assistance Agency will automatically receive 20 euros, and the rest will have to submit applications, but they are a smaller part:

"The interest in this measure is indicative that it is working in the first stages of support. It will continue throughout the period as long as prices remain at these levels. This measure amounts to 25 million euros".

For the first time, the Ministry of Social Affairs is committed to the fairness of the elections, said Hasan Ademov and explained:

"Very often the social system has been used over the years for controlled voting, and in some cases for corporate voting. MLSP prevention in connection with the problems allowed over the years related to the social system. We will be uncompromising. We declared zero tolerance for this type of behavior. We also had a meeting with the National Association of Municipalities, because the relationship between heads of social services and local authorities in some cases depends on local authorities. And we have to act uncompromisingly in cases where there are signals of abuse. Two signals have already been submitted to the Prosecutor's Office. There are already many signals from Blagoevgrad, Pleven, Kardzhali, Ruse.

The important thing is not to allow this ugly phenomenon of "vote against food", as was the practice before. We decided that people's need for help under European solidarity should not be affected by the date of the elections, because a series of elections may happen, people cannot wait. These food products must reach the most needy citizens, and the Bulgarian Red Cross is distributing them".
