The executive director of Active Consumers Bogomil Nikolov urged consumers not to leave holiday shopping to the last minute, as this poses a risk of temporary shortages of certain goods.

In the BNT studio, he emphasized that low prices depend on market saturation and promotion of local production. According to him, increased imports temporarily relieve the pressure, but do not solve the main problem.

Nikolov also warned that there is a possibility of an increase in the price of heating, as district heating companies traditionally state higher prices in order to receive at least some of them. He noted that with continued international pressure on energy markets, a more serious increase is possible.

For his part, Petar Ganev from the Institute for Market Economics said that there is still no definitive data on entering a period of high inflation, but the pressure on prices remains. According to him, the state cannot neutralize the effect of external shocks, such as those in fuels, and the situation around the Strait of Hormuz will probably continue to affect the markets.

In addition, Nikolov also issued advice on food safety - especially for spring salads, which are more risky in terms of contamination. He recommended that vegetables be soaked well in water before consumption. However, according to Ganev, there is currently no product for which price increases are inevitable.
