The Ministry of Agriculture and BFSA are expected to present the results so far of the "Clean Food" campaign launched in March. The data will be presented by the Minister of Agriculture Ivan Hristanov and the Executive Director of the Food Agency Dr. Angel Mavrovski.
The Ministry of Interior is also participating in the joint campaign. It is aimed at countering the smuggling of animals and animal products on the territory of the country.
The most striking case so far is from Haskovo, where nearly 150 tons of expired meat were found a few days ago.
Checks throughout the country continue, also covering schools and kindergartens. Due to the outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in Greece and Cyprus, the Ministry of Interior opened checkpoints about 30 km from the borders inland.
