A total of 833 people were checked within the framework of a specialized police operation (SPO), conducted on the territory of the Ministry of Interior's Regional Directorate - Dobrich by order of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, the directorate announced. The action is aimed at countering violations of electoral legislation and preventing crimes against the political rights of citizens.
Of the checked people, 60 have police registration, and 672 motor vehicles were also inspected, BTA reported.
During the operation, four pre-trial proceedings for possession of narcotic substances were initiated. A total of 6.56 grams of marijuana and 2.38 grams of amphetamine were discovered and seized.
Under the conditions of urgency, five more pre-trial proceedings were initiated for crimes under Art. 167 of the Criminal Code, related to the electoral process. The perpetrators were identified in four cases of theft under Art. 194 of the Criminal Code.
13 people were detained for a period of up to 24 hours under the Ministry of Interior Act. 31 acts of establishing administrative violations, 145 tickets and 31 protocols under Art. 64 and 65 of the Ministry of Interior Act were drawn up.
Checks were carried out in 8 pawnshops, 6 automorgues, 55 commercial establishments and 17 drinking establishments. 3 protocols were also drawn up by other control bodies.
The operation was attended by employees of the Ministry of Interior's Regional Directorate, the Zonal Gendarmerie Directorate, forest guards, as well as representatives of the National Revenue Agency, the Bulgarian Agency for Food Safety and Environment and the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection.
