A planned rotation of personnel from the US contingent performing tasks within the framework of the “Atlantic Resolve“ security assurance initiative will take place from April 8 to 12, 2026, the Ministry of Defense announced.
“Atlantic Resolve“ is an initiative of the US Army Forces in Europe and Africa, which aims to strengthen deterrence, increase the readiness of the Alliance and improve the interaction between US forces and allies in Eastern Europe.
The initiative includes American formations that participate on a rotational basis in bilateral, joint or multinational exercises in the Baltic States, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.
A total of 625 servicemen will arrive at Varna Airport, from where they will be transported to the joint Bulgarian-American facility at the “Novo Selo“ Training Range.
“The movement of personnel and accompanying equipment from Varna Airport to the “Novo Selo“ training range will be carried out along the republican road network. During the transportation, it is possible for columns of military equipment to pass, escorted by teams of the “Military Police“, the department specifies.
The Ministry of Defense calls on citizens and drivers to show understanding and follow the instructions of law enforcement agencies when meeting with military columns, in order to ensure traffic safety.
