“Over 120 Orthodox churches have been inspected in the capital”, Inspector Stefani Yosifova announced on the air of ”Sabù se”. During the inspections, instructions were given to church employees to ensure free evacuation exits and proper reaction to possible incidents. Where irregularities were found, instructions were given for their elimination, Nova TV reports.

Inspector Yosifova called on citizens who will attend the services on Easter night to keep their distance and avoid mass gatherings, especially at the places for lighting and extinguishing candles. She emphasized that it is important “to show special attention to female fellow citizens to protect their hair and clothing” from an open fire.

Regarding the tradition of bringing the blessed fire home, the fire department recommends that the candle be placed on a non-combustible material or mat. Inspector Yosifova warned that one of the most common mistakes is leaving stoves or other electrical appliances turned on unattended during the holidays. “Electrical installations must also be in good working order to prevent short circuits,” she added.

This evening, fire teams and equipment will be on duty at places with mass gatherings of people to monitor the safety of citizens.
