“All bodies with expired mandates must be replaced immediately – society expects results, not excuses.“. This was stated by Vladimir Georgiev, leader of the list of “BSP-UNITED LEFT“ in Sofia district, in the program “Offensive“ on Nova News. According to him, all party leaders must have a categorical position regarding the Supreme Judicial Council and the acting prosecutor general.

Georgiev emphasized that one of the first priorities of the left in the next parliament will be the preparation of rules for the election of a new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council. “People are not interested in whether 160 votes will be gathered, but they expect working solutions and results.“, he was categorical.

According to him, the current state of the judicial system creates serious risks: “At the moment, for us, the acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov is illegitimate. Every case reopened by him risks being tainted.“.

Vladimir Georgiev saw reason in the decision of the office to withdraw the nominations for European Prosecutor: “We saw from the first procedure that it was not completely transparent. It is necessary to start over, giving professionals a chance, instead of continuing the practice of appointing convenient candidates.“

Georgiev also commented on the case of city prosecutor Emilia Rusinova, who was reported to have traveled with Pepi Euroto: “It is precisely such cases that the Supreme Judicial Council should deal with, instead of administrative issues. More publicity needs to be given and explanations sought. These people have no place in the positions they occupy.“

Vladimir Georgiev also said that the judicial system needs to be cleansed of oligarchic dependencies in order to restore public trust in justice. The candidate for People's Representative announced the intention of the left to make legislative proposals for a working anti-corruption commission. He also announced his support for the return of the president's constitutional powers regarding the election of officials.

“People expect fairer and faster justice and, in general, a fairer Bulgaria. This would be difficult to happen in the absence of a strong left - so support us with number 5.“, Georgiev urged in conclusion.
