Christ is risen, announced the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil in front of the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky".
He celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ. The Patriarch led the service in the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky".
The Divine Liturgy began with Easter Midnight Mass - a short prayer service.
At 10:30 p.m., the Holy Fire, prayed for earlier yesterday in Jerusalem, arrived in Bulgaria at the "Vasil Levski" airport - Sofia.
A Bulgarian airline that transported the holy relic from Bucharest to Timisoara delivered it to us on its way back to Sofia.
The Holy Fire was transported to the Synodal Chapel, from where it was brought in and handed over to Patriarch Daniel before the start of the Easter service.
The Patriarch distributed the fire to all Orthodox Christians present before the proclamation of Christ's resurrection.
