1 million euros have been seized so far by the Ministry of Interior in the course of all operations against vote buying. This was announced by Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior Georgi Kandev on Facebook.
"1 million euros with which someone decided that they could buy conscience, replace will and steal the future of Bulgaria. This is not just a crime. This is a blow against statehood," he wrote in the post.
And he added: "And let it be very clear that the Ministry of Interior will respond with the same force with which they are trying to distort democracy. There will be no umbrella. There will be no untouchables. There will be no compromises. Do not sell your vote. Do not let them turn you into a tool. Your choice does not cost money - it costs a future. Democracy is not for sale. And as long as I am the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - it will not be".
