The reconstruction of 1.8 km of Alexander Stamboliyski Blvd. – in the section from Zapaden Park to Konstantin Velichkov Blvd. is progressing. The project is among the key infrastructure projects of the Sofia Municipality and includes a complete renovation of the tram route, roadways and the adjacent urban environment.
In the last section – from Anton St. to K. Velichkov Blvd. – work is underway on the construction of the road structure, and the laying of the first layer of asphalt pavement has begun.
The reconstruction of the underground engineering infrastructure has been completed - the sewage system, water supply and electrical networks have been replaced. The poles, the contact cable network and street lighting have been installed.
In parallel, the construction of new sidewalks and the completion of the alley network continues, and the improvement of the green areas is also pending.
In the section from Zapadna Street to Anton Street, the main activities have been completed - the alley network, the railway, the installation of the contact cable network and street lighting, as well as the water supply and electricity networks have been completed. The road structure has been built, the first layer of asphalt has been laid. Existing networks in the local roadway have been replaced.
Before the site is put into operation, the final layer of asphalt will be laid on the entire section from Zapadna Street to K. Velichkov Boulevard, as well as new road signs and markings.
A separate route for rail transport has been provided by installing barriers. Special attention has been paid to tram stops - platforms with railings to the roadway have been built to increase safety, as well as transitional ramps for an accessible environment.
Tactile strips are being installed on the sidewalks in the intersection areas for better orientation of people with impaired vision.
With the implementation of landscaping and the installation of urban furniture, the reconstruction of the site will be completely completed.
