The head of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office Emilia Rusinova has gone on extended leave. This was reported by "Evrokom" TV, citing its sources in the Courthouse. Rusinova is taking this step in the midst of the scandal related to the revelations about her joint trips with the judiciary lobbyist Petyo Petrov-Evroto.
The head of the largest prosecutor's office has asked to rest even before the Easter holidays. She planned to be absent for at least two weeks. This period coincides with the holding of the early parliamentary elections. It is not excluded that Emilia Rusinova will wait for the result to find out whether she will be able to keep her position under the new political configuration in parliament.
She is still the temporary administrative head of the SGP, since an appeal procedure is underway after her election. After the acting Minister of the Interior Emil Dechev revealed about the joint voyages of Rusinova and Pepi Euroto, the topic became central for almost all media.
This provoked Rusinova to issue a written position in which she announced that unconfirmed data was being launched against her, and that she would seek her rights through legal means. At the same time, the acting Minister of Justice Andrey Yankulov requested a report on Rusinova's travels and, based on this information, requested that disciplinary proceedings be initiated by the Prosecutor's Office of the Supreme Judicial Council, as well as that she be punished.
The suspended European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva announced that it was Emilia Rusinova who took her to the European Prosecutor's Office before her election as European Prosecutor. Recordings of this meeting were distributed in the public domain, but only Georgieva and Euroto can be seen in them. Their conversation revolved around the competition for a prosecutor in the European Prosecutor's Office.
