All legal powers of the Minister of Justice to act in the case with Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov have been exhausted, Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Andrey Yankulov told the media.

According to him, Sarafov is in office contrary to the law and morality, every day he remains in this position puts the justice system in an extremely critical situation for the rule of law in our country. According to him, the easiest way out of the situation is for Sarafov to resign, BTA reported.

Yankulov added that he wants to understand exactly what the actual actions to be taken in the case would be — an expression of the power of the Minister of Justice or another executive body, which could be applied to permanently resolve the issue of Borislav Sarafov taking the post of Prosecutor General.

The Minister suggested that anyone could be removed from their office by force, as long as someone who exercises a monopoly on state violence decides to do so. However, his position is that the issue cannot be resolved by such means.

Andrei Yankulov took part in the solemn meeting of the Union of Lawyers in Bulgaria, which marks the Constitution Day and the professional holiday of the lawyer. The event was also attended by the head of state Iliyana Yotova, the President of the Constitutional Court Pavlina Panova and representatives of the legal community.
