We see a healing process throughout the country, commented Anton Stankov

“This is a good start, this is a step in the right direction that should have been taken a long time ago. Yesterday, there was a sense of relief. I can tell you that prosecutors within the system congratulated each other. I saw how ordinary people on the streets congratulated each other on what happened. And we all saw, albeit in a joking way, that this morning the sun rose, the state continues to work, even though Borislav Sarafov is no longer the acting prosecutor general“. This was commented on “This Morning“ on bTV by Vladimir Nikolov, a prosecutor from the Pleven District Prosecutor's Office and former chairman of the Prosecutors' Association, after the resignation of the acting prosecutor general Borislav Sarafov.

“Something happened that was necessary to restore legality. And I must tell you that from now on the system will work much better, much calmer. The normal rhythm and normal powers of the system will be restored. Thanks to the wide-eyed majority of the prosecutorial college of the Supreme Judicial Council, thanks to this ruthless and incomprehensible persistence, a number of important powers of the prosecutor's office were practically blocked,“ he pointed out.

“We see a healing process throughout the country. The election results clearly indicate that parliamentarism will be restored. From there the real functions of the judiciary will be restored, from there the changes in the executive branch will also start. Sarafov's resignation in itself does not solve the problem. We have his deputy at the moment“, commented Anton Stankov, Doctor of Law and former Minister of Justice.

He noted that this is the first time a woman has been appointed to this position.

„At the same time, the real process will begin when the new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council is elected. For the moment, I do not have excessive expectations for what will happen. It is unlikely to be something dramatic or radically opposite to what has been the case so far“, he pointed out.

„Throughout my entire career, I have fought for precisely this - for prosecutors to be brave, to express their positions and not to be afraid when doing so. We have a long way ahead of us, steps that must be taken. What must be done is extremely simple. To comply with the Constitution and legality. "Obviously, it's difficult for some people because we need to break a model of clinging to power, of using this power - not in the public interest. And in order to clear all this up, to get rid of these doubts, dependencies, to position the prosecutor's office in such a way that it enjoys public trust, has the support of the people, we undoubtedly need to resolve these cases," commented Vladimir Nikolov.
