The Sofia Municipality is introducing a temporary organization of traffic in the center of Sofia on April 25 and 26 due to the bicycle ride “Together“ and the repair of the tram track on “Rozhen“ Blvd., with phased restrictions for cars and changes in public transport expected, the Municipality's press center announced.
From 10:30 on April 25, in order to ensure the safety of the cycling column until the end of the event, the movement of road vehicles will be temporarily suspended in stages along a route from the intersection of “Patriarh Evtimiy“ Blvd. and “Vitosha“ Blvd. on „Patriarh Evtimiy“ Blvd. to the Five Corners, right on „Hristo Botev“ Blvd., right on „Todor Aleksandrov“ Blvd., straight on „Tsar Osvoboditel“ Blvd., left on „15 Noemvri“ St. Alexander Nevski“ Sq., right on „Dunav“ Sq., right on „Moskovska“ Sq.
Traffic is restricted on „Gina Kuncheva“ Sq. right on “Vasil Levski“ Blvd., left on “Tsar Osvoboditel“ Blvd., right on “Evlogi i Hristo Georgievi“ Blvd., straight on “Pencho Slaveykov“ Blvd., left on “Vitosha“ Blvd. to the entrance to the South Park, where the finish line is.
From 9:00 a.m. until the end of the event on April 25, stopping and parking of vehicles along the route are prohibited.
The “Together“ Bike Ride is organized by the Bulgarian Hemophilia Association with the aim of raising awareness of the problems of people with hereditary blood clotting disorders. The start of the bike ride is at the pylons of the National Palace of Culture, and the end point is the South Park.
A temporary organization of public transport traffic is being introduced in Sofia on April 25 and 26 due to track repairs on “Rozhen“ Blvd. in the section from “Suhodolska“ River to “Sofia North“ tram stop, the press center of the Sofia Municipality announced.
From 4:30 a.m. on April 25 to 6:00 p.m. on April 26, the routes of some tram lines will change. Tram line No. 1 will operate with a changed route only in the direction of “Ivan Vazov“ residential area, with the trains running bidirectionally on “Knyaginya Maria Luiza“ Blvd. in the section between the overpass “Nadezhda“ and “Kozloduy“ Str., closing the “Central Bus Station“ stop (code 2665) on “Struga“ Str. During the same period, tram line No. 11 will run from “Knyazhevo“ district along its usual route to the “Nadezhda“ transport underpass, then it will continue through the underpass along “Knyaginya Maria Luiza“ Blvd. through the Central Station, along “Hristo Botev“ Blvd., “Struga“ Str. and again along Blvd. „Knyaginya Maria Luiza“, from where it will run in both directions.
Tram line No. 12 will run with a changed route and schedule on both days, as on April 25 it will serve the section from „Journalist“ Square to „Sofia Sever“ station, and on April 26 until 10:00 it will run to the „Nadezhda“ overpass („Banishora“ depot), after which until 18:00 it will again serve the route to „Sofia Sever“ station.
On April 26 tram line No. 6 will run until 12:00 on a shortened route from „Ivan Vazov“ residential area to the overpass “Nadezhda“, and tram line №27 – until 10:00 from the “Manastirski Livadi“ quarter to the same section.
During the repair, a temporary bus line №12TM is also being opened with a route from the Central Station to the “Iliyantsi“ quarter, which will run along “Knyaginya Maria Luiza“ Blvd., “Nadezhda“ overpass, “Rozhen“ Blvd. and adjacent streets in the area. The buses will stop at all existing stops along the route, with the exception of the stop “Blvd. “Knyaginya Maria Luiza“ (code 2829) for line №60.
After 18:00 on April 26, the movement of all lines will be restored along their usual routes.
At the end of last year, the newly constructed section of „Rozhen“ Blvd. was opened for traffic.
