The Sofia District Prosecutor's Office is leading pre-trial proceedings related to the serious bodily injury of the 14-year-old boy who fell with the railing of the National Palace of Culture. It was initiated on April 24, the press center of the prosecutor's office reported.
So far, during the investigation, an inspection of the scene has been carried out and material evidence has been seized, witnesses have been questioned, a forensic medical examination has been ordered and security camera recordings have been attached.
On Monday, the pre-trial proceedings were reported to the supervising prosecutor. He has given detailed instructions to 04 Regional Directorate-SDVR for further actions in the course of the investigation. It was ordered to immediately identify eyewitnesses to the incident, to question more witnesses, to appoint a complex video technical and facial identification examination of the video camera recordings included in the case and a technical examination with the metal railing seized in the case as the subject of examination.
During the investigation, all necessary documents regarding the construction of the railing in question and who is responsible for the maintenance of the building stock should be requested and attached.
The investigation into the case continues, checking all versions relevant to the pre-trial proceedings. In the event that sufficient evidence is collected for the guilt of certain persons, they will be held criminally liable.
The 14-year-old boy remains in the children's intensive care unit of "Pirogov" in extremely serious condition. The child was admitted there after a long operation, which was performed urgently on Friday against Saturday by a team of neurosurgeons.
The National Palace of Culture informed that they are conducting an internal inspection of the condition of the facilities after the incident.
