President Iliana Yotova is expected to issue a decree convening the 52nd National Assembly. Yesterday she stated that the first session of the new parliament will be held on Thursday at 10:00.
Most likely today the list of names of the newly elected members of parliament will be published in the “State Gazette“. After the oath-taking, the 240 deputies will elect the Speaker of the Parliament, as well as his deputies.
The constitutional procedure continues with the constitution of the parliamentary groups and consultations between them and the President. This is expected to happen early next week.
After that, the handing over of exploratory mandates for the formation of a government will begin. Iliana Yotova will hand over the first mandate for a candidate for Prime Minister to the largest parliamentary group – in this case “Progressive Bulgaria“. According to the Constitution, they have 7 days to propose a composition of the Council of Ministers.
