The people voted for normality and we must do our best to achieve it.

This was stated by President Iliana Yotova to journalists in Vidin in response to a question about the messages she will address to the newly elected members of parliament in the 52nd National Assembly, quoted by novini.bg.

The head of state recalled that he expects a new way of relations between Bulgarian institutions. “From now on, they will talk to each other, with their partners, and I hope for mutual consensus decisions, because Bulgaria needs this very much“, emphasized Iliana Yotova. The President pointed out that the country faces serious problems and everyone's efforts are needed to solve them. Anyone who does not work in the interests of the people has no reason to participate in Bulgarian politics, said Yotova.

Yotova once again stated that she would not delay the constitutional procedure and would hold consultations with the parliamentary groups as soon as possible. She recalled the in-depth consultations she had conducted before appointing the caretaker government. “I hope that these consultations will also be sufficiently in-depth. After that, I will also hand over the first mandate, which I hope will be fulfilled immediately“, she pointed out.

President Yotova also said that the pace of the procedure depends on the holidays, but also on her upcoming visit to Armenia to participate in the summit of the European Political Community, where she will represent our country. Iliyana Yotova added that she will present the Bulgarian position on the development of the European Union and other current topics on the European agenda, including the Vertical Gas Corridor, the fight against drug trafficking and human trafficking. “Most of all, how, in our opinion, Europe can regain its leadership positions. I am convinced that the next government will work towards this“, said President Yotova.
