A constitutional majority of 160 members of parliament has always been the responsibility of the more representative parties. In the current parliament, "Progressive Bulgaria" has 131 deputies and a majority beyond 160 will be found in order to replace the Supreme Judicial Council and the Prosecutor General. This opinion was expressed to bTV by lawyer Emil Georgiev from "Justice for Everyone", quoted by news.bg
According to him, the financial status of the new members of the Supreme Judicial Council should be clear.
Integrity is a very important word that should be brought into focus so that there are honest people in the Supreme Judicial Council, and not "lice" in the personnel body, believes lawyer Georgiev.
According to him, the activities of the prosecutor's office should be thoroughly examined and subject to stricter control.
"We hope that with the election of the new bodies, but also with the relevant amendments to the Judiciary Act, a result will be achieved in the field of judicial reform," said lawyer Emil Georgiev.
Former Sofia City Prosecutor Nikolay Kokinov added that "Progressive Bulgaria" has the power and the necessary majority to take steps with the election of members of a new SJC. From there, the ball will be untied, the people at the top of power will be replaced and things will start moving, Kokinov believes.
According to him, there should be a broader representation of the people who can nominate candidates for the new SJC.
According to Kokinov, the prosecution owes answers to many questions.
