26 Bulgarian beaches and 6 ports have been awarded the prestigious international quality mark "Blue Flag" for the upcoming summer season.
This is the highest number in the country's history, reports the Bulgarian "Blue Flag" movement, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio.
The distinction is awarded based on strict criteria for water purity, safety, environmental management and quality of services. Among the awardees are beaches in Albena, Kranevo, Golden Sands, Sunny Day, Byala, Obzor, Sveti Vlas, Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Sozopol and other leading resorts, as well as six modern ports.
The record 32 awards are proof of the commitment of Bulgarian concessionaires and local authorities to nature conservation, modernization of tourist infrastructure and offering high-quality services, the Bulgarian Blue Flag movement states.
This recognition is expected to increase tourist interest and improve the country's image as a clean and safe sea destination.
