There are no serious sanctions for violators of the Road Traffic Act in Bulgarian legislation. The two drivers involved in the "Hemus" accident today have many such violations. This was said by the former director of the Traffic Police Tencho Tenev on the air of "Interview in NOVA News".

He gave the following example - in Japan, a professional driver of three years, if he has two violations, his driving license is taken away and he has to take a test. In Great Britain - young drivers, if they have two serious violations within two years, also lose their license and have to take another test - both theory and practice, Tenev added. The expert was categorical that this should be included in Bulgarian legislation.

The former head of the Traffic Police said that the country should have more laboratories for blood sample results in drug tests. He added that there is enough money in the Road Safety Fund for this purpose.
