The two summer festivals of the Belogradchik Rocks - the 11th edition of the “Opera of the Peaks“ and the 2nd edition of the “Stage of the Peaks“ have fully secured funding, with an even richer program compared to last year - a total of 18 titles, and will last for two months - from July 3 to September 5.
This was announced by the organizers of the two festivals - Free Media Group, regarding the information about the canceled summer opera festival in Sofia of another organizer due to the lack of funds.
While in recent years there have often been talks about difficulties and limitations in financing around cultural projects in Bulgaria, Belogradchik once again proves that when there is desire, there is a solution, Free Media Group emphasizes.
This summer, “Opera of the Peaks“ and “Stage of the Peaks“ are once again expected to attract thousands of fans under the majestic Belogradchik Rocks, which serve as a natural backdrop for the performances. This year, the two festivals are even expanding their scope, and will take place from July 3 to September 5, 2026 - with nearly a month longer festival presence compared to previous editions. Opera performances, concerts and events are planned that will turn one of the most beautiful natural stages in Europe into a center of attraction for visitors from all over the country and the world.
Sometimes in cultural life, the impression is created that big ideas are only possible under certain conditions, in certain places and with certain people. However, Belogradchik shows otherwise - when there is support, good organization and a clear vision, the results come, commented the organizers of “Opera of the Peaks” peaks“ and “Stage of the Peaks“. “The most important thing: the festival continues. There is a program, there is an audience, there are stable partners and fully secured financing. And most of all - there is a desire for development“, the organizers also stated.
The organizer of “Opera of the Peaks“ and “Stage of the Peaks“ is Free Media Group in partnership with the State Opera - Ruse, the National Musical Theater “Stefan Makedonski” and the Dramatic Puppet Theater in Vratsa. The two festivals are held with the assistance of the Belogradchik Municipality and with the exclusive support of Electrohold. Other partners are Euroins, China Motor Company (representative of Dongfeng, BYD, Hongqi), “Skalite” Hotel, “Magura” Wine Cellar and FastPay. With a rich program of performances and established names on the music and theater scene, the organizer has the ambition for the two festivals to once again stand out as one of the most impressive and large-scale cultural events in Bulgaria.
The cycle of live performances will begin on July 3 with the concert-performance “The Waltz King“ based on the music of Johann Strauss-son, and on July 4, the new musical “Hello, how are you, my friend” by Stefan Diomov will be presented. The program also includes the operas by Giacomo Puccini - “Tosca“ and “Madame Butterfly”, by Mozart - “The Marriage of Figaro“, the ballet based on the music of Georges Bizet - “Carmen“, as well as the legendary musical “Cabaret” by John Kander. The operetta "Countess Maritsa" will also be presented on the stage of the rocks this year. Among the most anticipated events is the concert-performance "Live on Broadway" with Rafi Bohosyan, which will transport the audience to the world of great musicals with performances of "The Lion King", "Ah, this jazz", "Hair", "Beauty and the Beast", "The Phantom of the Opera", "Mamma Mia!" and other world hits.
The theater program offers no less attractive titles - from the emotional comedy-drama play "I'll Stay for a While" with the participation of Gerasim Gerasimov-Gero and Stefania Koleva, through the impressive one-man show “Chamkoria“ by director Yavor Gardev starring Zahari Baharov, to the hit comedies “Friday Night“ with Filip Bukov.
“Stage of the Peaks“ will bring together iconic rock bands such as Tangra, which has a special place in the heart of Belogradchik with its eternal hit - “Our City“, which has become the official anthem of the city, as well as the legends of the BTR, who will take the stage together with the symphony orchestra of the Symphonieta - Vidin. A folklore festival with free admission will welcome the audience on August 7 and 8, and the finale of the festival will be performed by the Montana brass band “Mont Music“ on the eve of the Day of Reunification. Tickets for the performances from the program of both festivals are already on sale sale.
