A large fire broke out at noon in the area of the Haskovo villages of Dinevo and Koren, near the military training ground. Smoke from the fire can also be seen from Haskovo, Nova TV reports.
Mainly grass and bushes are burning, with the fire spreading near a forest massif. At this stage, it is not affected by the fire, the Regional Administration reported.
Due to a change in the wind direction, the flames are spreading towards the village of Krivo Pole. There is currently no danger to settlements.
11 fire trucks and a bulldozer are working on the ground. Volunteers have also joined the firefighting effort, assisting the teams with water tankers.
The work of the firefighters is being hampered by the strong wind and the difficult terrain. They are taking action to prevent the fire from spreading to the forest.
An extreme risk of fires has been declared in the Haskovo region for today. Under such conditions, the fire can spread quickly and be difficult to control.
