The President of the European Council Antonio Costa starts a tour of all the capitals of the EU countries tomorrow. Costa will visit Sofia on September 3. The aim of the annual "Tour of Capitals" is for the President of the European Council to understand the positions of the heads of state and government, especially regarding the next long-term EU budget, the institution announced, quoted by BNT.

The exchange will help prepare the upcoming summits of the European Council. Costa's aim is for EU countries to reach an agreement on the next multiannual financial framework for 2028-2034 by the end of this year.

"Defence, competitiveness, enlargement and support for Ukraine will be part of my discussions with European leaders during the upcoming “Tour of Capitals”. But the next long-term EU budget will certainly stand out. These exchanges provide a vital 360-degree view of member states' priorities and expectations, ensuring that the work of the European Council continues to reflect the realities of Europe,” says Antonio Costa.
The first countries Costa will visit this week are Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic.
