The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has not allowed another shipment of table grapes from Turkey with excessive pesticide residue levels to enter the European Union market. The shipment with a total quantity of 16,300 kg, distributed in 2904 boxes, was returned to the sender.
A laboratory test found pesticide residue content above the legally established maximum permissible levels.
The detection of another non-compliant shipment is within the framework of the BFSA's enhanced control over fresh fruits and vegetables, aimed at guaranteeing food safety, traceability and establishing the real origin of the products offered on the market.
The BFSA continues its enhanced control in order to prevent foods that do not meet safety requirements from entering the market.
