Vili Lilkov requested an increase in the income of the Sofia Municipality to cover the increased costs of Sofia

The municipal councilor believes that this can be done by increasing the collection of taxes, more fines and sanctions, as well as by raising the rents of municipal properties

It is true that the money in Sofia's budget for 2024 will not be enough if we want to do everything that is on the agenda and that Sofia needs. On the other hand, however, the budget grows every year, we will try to raise it by increasing the revenue part. This is what the municipal councilor from “Sinya Sofia” said in the studio of Euronews Bulgaria. Vili Lilkov.

According to him, this is exactly what many of the proposals of the municipal councilors are – to raise revenue. As an example, Lilkov pointed to the collection of taxes and fees, to increase the revenue from fines and penalties, as well as to update the rents for which municipal property is leased.

BGN 500 million is planned for the capital's urban transport, and according to Vili Lilkov, the funds are not much because new metro stations are being built in connection with the extension of the metro.

„In urban transport, it is not only about the vehicles, we also need to improve the material base, as well as the workshops and depots for the means of transport,”, he further explained.

We must not forget education as well, as there are about 40% more funds in the budget for it this year, added the municipal councilor.
