Even if all the candidates for acting prime minister had refused, we still would not have reached a constitutional crisis, because the resigned government would have remained in power until a new one was elected. This was explained on NovaNews by political scientist Assoc. Daniel Smilov, quoted by novini.bg
According to him, the interesting part will be the composition of the official cabinet, reminding that the purpose of the constitutional changes was to limit to the maximum extent the role of the president in the composition of the official executive power.
In his words, Dimitar Glavchev is in a situation where he must make efforts to form a balanced cabinet. Smilov did not rule out the possibility that some of the current ministers will keep their posts in the official cabinet, but added that Dimitar Glavchev will have the last word.
Associate Professor Smilov also commented on the next early parliamentary elections. His view on the matter is that GERB and DPS expect that they will increase their results, which is why they sent the country to a new early vote.
However, this does not mean that it will happen. Very often in politics it turns out that calculations can turn out to be wrong. If everything was really agreed, should GERB on Sunday announce the end of the negotiations? Apparently, a reason was sought to interrupt these negotiations, suggested the political scientist.
These elections “will not make much sense”, the expert concluded.
