The Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg arrived in Bulgaria, dariknews.bg reported.
He was met at Sofia airport by the head of the delegation of the National Assembly to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Daniel Mitov.
The head of the Bulgarian delegation thanked the Secretary General for the visit at a time when Bulgaria is celebrating its twentieth anniversary as a full member of NATO. Daniel Mitov noted the leadership and personal contribution of Jens Stoltenberg in preserving the unity of the Alliance in times of severe geopolitical confrontation.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria hosts the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. The forum will be opened on May 27, 2024 by the Chairman of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Michal Shcherba. Parliamentarians from the 32 member states of the Alliance will be welcomed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Rositsa Kirova and Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.
Participants in the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will discuss key topics on the Euro-Atlantic defense and security agenda with a focus on support for Ukraine. In Sofia, the Assembly must adopt its recommendations for the NATO summit in Washington.
