Denkov: The entire campaign of GERB is based on two lies about PP

The first is that we have not been able to accomplish anything, and the second is that we are like them

The co-chairs of "We continue the change " Kiril Petkov, Asen Vasilev and former Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov are holding an open conversation with citizens in Haskovo, novini.bg reported.

The topic of the conversation is "The change in the last 10 months - what did we succeed and where did we go wrong? What awaits us?".

The entire GERB campaign is based on two lies. The first is that we have failed to accomplish anything, and the second is that we are like them. If we were like them, there would still be a government, we would have distributed the regulators and turned the game over - to start all over again. But we are not here for that, we are here to make Bulgaria different. We will fight to make Bulgaria a wonderful country to live in, a country that is well governed, said Nikolay Denkov.

There is no sector in which we have not achieved at least 2-3 things that change people's lives, he noted.

What we have achieved would not have happened if we had not regained the trust of Europe that we are working for the development of the European space. 12 years ago, Borisov made a famous statement that we should plaster a wall and enter Schengen. It didn't happen for so many years precisely because there was no trust in what the government was doing, why no one was convicted of corruption. We managed to return this trust, the former prime minister pointed out.

In his words, during the management of the cabinet "Denkov" Bulgaria has entered the top 5 countries in the European Union in terms of development rates. With this growth of the economy, today our inflation is lower than the European average. All the talk about how the budget will thunder turned out to be lies to scare people. Everything happened as the former Minister of Finance Asen Vasilev predicted, Nikolay Denkov commented.

He pointed out that last year there were investments in our country that we haven't had since 2008, in the amount of BGN 7 billion, as well as a serious increase in incomes.

As other successes of the government headed by him, Denkov singled out the increase in money for health care, education, as well as social payments. However, he noted that in order for these sectors to work more successfully, there must be reforms, as in many other areas.

Asen Vasilev presented data on the growth of income over time of the two departments of the PP in the last 3 years

Gross domestic product per capita shows how rich we are as a country compared to the average European level. In 2009 it was 44%, and by 2020 we have crept up by 1% to 54%. At this rate, we will reach the average European level in 2066. And for the last 3 years, we have reached 64% - at this rate, we will reach the average European level in 10-12 years. This is the difference in how the country's economy is managed, Vasilev pointed out.

In 2009, the average pension was BGN 288, and by 2020 it had risen to BGN 382. In 2021, we found over 1 million people below the poverty line, so one of the first things we did was to at least bring them up to the poverty line. Currently, the average pension is BGN 788, and from July 1 it will become BGN 883. It's not that pensioners are rich, but at least they're not wondering how they're going to make it through the month. It's not much, but if it had started happening earlier, we would be at a completely different level, emphasized the former finance minister.
