Let's not forget that at the beginning of the communist regime installed by the Soviet Union in our country, the grave of Tsar Boris the Third in Rila monastery was severely insulted, and its bones – scattered in the ravines near the monastery. What we are currently witnessing is the opposite. This is what a smart country and nation should do. I am proud to be here today at this ceremony. I thank everyone showing this European, democratic, humanistic, purely human approach to our history. President Rosen Plevneliev (2012 - 2017) said this to journalists, quoted by novini.bg.
He attended the funeral procession in the "Crow" park, where the mortal remains of King Ferdinand I were brought.
„Ferdinand deserves to receive his objective assessment. The truth is that not one or two generations of politicians explained themselves behind his back for one or two national catastrophes, but many people washed their hands at the time so as not to bear their responsibility. He is not the only one to bear the responsibility. Let us learn from history, keep it as it is, and treat our leaders with dignity, he said.
As Ferdinand Plevneliev's strongest feature he pointed out: „Undoubtedly his courage to oppose the will of the Russian emperor and other powers and to contribute to our Bulgarian union."
