PP-DB: Glavchev owes an explanation for his attempt to change the Bulgarian position on the genocide in Srebrenica

The acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dimitar Glavchev owes an explanation for his inadmissible attempt to change the official Bulgarian position regarding the UN resolution to mark the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica. Immediately before the vote on May 23, 2024, Glavchev “gave instructions” for the representatives of Bulgaria in the UN to take a position of “abstained”, without explanation to the public and contrary to diplomatic practice.

This is stated in an official position of PP-DB sent to the media. Here's more from the document:

Bulgaria is one of the initiator countries of the resolution and Glavchev's attempt to change our country's position on the document is completely unacceptable - contrary to the position of the other EU countries.

Only days earlier, according to media publications, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic tried in the last hour before the vote to change the positions of a number of countries, including Bulgaria. Belgrade's position is supported by both Russia and countries with a pro-Kremlin foreign policy such as China, Cuba, Belarus, Nicaragua, Syria, etc. No EU country voted against the resolution.

The acting prime minister and foreign minister, who is following without fail the instructions of Borisov and Peevski, has no mandate to change the foreign policy direction of Bulgaria and to support the pro-Russian foreign policy at the UN. Dimitar Glavchev and his advisers must be aware that the constructive development of the Western Balkans cannot go through sweeping the Srebrenica genocide under the carpet. 8,000 Bosnian men and boys.

Glavchev's act is not surprising. It is another proof that GERB and DPS are Euro-Atlantic mainly in words, but in practice they serve Putin's regime, as has happened more than once in the last 15 years when building pipelines, signing gas contracts and giving away puppies.
